I live in Columbus, Georgia, with my fiancé and our three darling dogs. I wanted Spacejoy to help me create the perfect place to host fun parties and when I am not hosting a place to kick up my feet and enjoy some quality time with the family and sometimes just for me.
Maria
Maria loves a good transformation story. Bringing people’s vision for their space to life and watching them swoon is the most satisfying aspect of her work. She believes that adding functional details is a tell-tale of a good design.
Design Brief: A living room that focuses on comfort while being absolutely stylish
Over the months, I collected pictures featuring décor and furniture that appealed to me on my Pinterest board. I shared this with my designer Maria and also pointed out that I intend to keep my piano and sofa.
Watching Design Experts at Work
After going through my Pinterest board, Maria figured that I was leaning towards a Modern Farmhouse style of design with a hint of eclectic. Using this, she curated a mood board with products that would help me achieve this style. She also created a floorplan of my living room to get a better idea of my layout. I was expecting to see one design concept based on this mood board.

Hi Trinity, We had so much fun designing your living room! In your design, you will see that we incorporated eclectic and farmhouse pieces with neutral and earthy tones to create a warm feeling. All the pieces selected for this design were carefully chosen to create an inviting, calm and comfortable space. We hope you love your design!
Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D
On the App, I went through my design. Seeing my vision come to life in 3D was thrilling. Maria took into account my likes and preferences yet managed to surprise me with some product selection that I otherwise wouldn't have considered. I played around with the layout a little bit and tried to swap my existing sofa with a few new options. Just in case something caught my fancy. While reviewing this, I made a note of some changes I wanted made in the design and left it on the App for Maria to process and change.
Initial Design Revision
Maria and I discussed the changes I wanted in detail, mostly to do with décor options and the change of heart with my existing sofa.

We went back and forth, discussing the changes. Maria shared versions of the design based on my suggestions. I decided in the end to keep my current sofa, and we finalized on a design. The layout option opened up the room for entertaining so nicely, and I am excited to host friends and family in the coming months. I placed the order for all the products right away as this was a long-standing project and had occupied a steady place on my to-do list. I was excited to scratch it out.

I really like the design! It feels warm and cozy even with the amount of grey that is currently in there. Funny enough, I have had my eye on that rug for such a long time, and you used it in the design without knowing that, lol. I have also already bought the coffee table, and plan on buying most all things on there. My style has changed over the years, and I feel like this captures just the design I was looking for. Thank you so much for designing my space!
