I haven’t updated the look of my bedroom in years. So, when my boyfriend moved in, it was an excellent opportunity to get started. I wanted my space to look minimal yet transitional with a hint of mid-century style. For me, the bedroom should be a space where I feel content; it should be a zone for me to work out, relax and binge on my favorite episodes while in bed. So, all I want is for my bedroom to look cohesive, stylish, and radiate comfort.

Design Brief
It has been a long time since I updated my bedroom. When my boyfriend moved in, it gave me the perfect opportunity to bring together a more feminine style with a dash of masculinity. My designer Maria brought life into my space by incorporating elements that I wouldn’t have thought of myself. Mid-century and transitional décor styles were my choices, and pops of colors with not too much drama all around is what I suggested to Maria – and the transformation I see today in my bedroom is out of this universe. Maria included a lot of storage options and minimized the excessive furniture – bringing joy to my space with a snap of a finger. I am so fortunate to have chosen Spacejoy – the team has magically worked within my budget to bring life to my style.
Watching Design Experts at Work
I never imagined that my bedroom could look so minimal, beautiful and cozy, all at the same time! When the experts began their work, I was excited to see my room transform inch by inch. Maria and her team at Spacejoy read my mind and gave me what I wanted to see in my bedroom. I wanted storage, and voila, there were plenty of options to choose from. I needed as little furniture as possible, and Maria worked around it so well that my bedroom feels so cozy and inviting today. Since my bedroom is also a zone for my workouts, Maria ensured sufficient space for a yoga mat to exercise. I was also open to trying out new colors, and thus the accent wall was born. I am so in love with my bedroom that I now never want to leave it.
Designer Notes
We had so much fun designing your bedroom! A beautiful Geometric Ivory Area rug gives a touch of a modern style, as well as the clean lines of the Gemini set of drawers. Rustic elements were incorporated by including the vintage Botanical Sketch Prints, the Teak Ladder, and the 5 Shelf Ladder, which also provides additional storage and display space. Transitional style elements were also included by combining modern elements and traditional pieces, such as the Abbingt Upholstered Storage Bed. Pops of blues, yellows, and pinks were incorporated to create a balance between feminine and masculine elements. The layout of the space was designed to provide a place for relaxing and unwinding while watching TV. Also, this layout allows space for multiple dressers to provide additional storage areas without making the room feel too crowded. When designing this room, the main priority was to provide additional storage space and to create a calm and relaxing place. Your existing bench and dresser were also added to the design, and products to match them were selected to create a cohesive design. An accent wall with the Anchors Aweigh by Sherwin Williams creates a focal point, and the rest of the room is painted Extra White by Sherwin Williams. For the window treatments, the Belgian Flax Linen Curtain in a Natural color and blackout lining allows sunlight to come through while creating privacy. We hope you enjoy your design!
Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D
When I was told to see my bedroom in 3D, I jumped with joy. I knew what I wanted in my space, but to see it come alive even before any décor was implemented or removed, was the best experience ever! The 3D visual is such a big deal for us customers as we see and experience a change before it’s actually implemented in our homes. Maria paid attention to every detail I mentioned, and now my bedroom has completely transformed into a place I love the most.

When I saw the 3D images of my bedroom, I literally jumped out of my seat. They were so life-like, highlighting my bedroom, that every inch of the space felt alive, bursting with color and prints. I never imagined that seeing something in 3D would feel so real or have such a major impact on how I design my space. By the end of that session, I was so thrilled that I wanted my bedroom to be ready as quickly as possible.
