We are California natives. A family of 3 and 1 pet. The new house we moved into is Spanish-styled. We wanted to implement our love for modern farmhouses, or bohemian, but didn’t want it to clash with the Spanish elegance. Comfort is significant to us – so we were looking for a living room that exudes nothing but ‘comfort.’

Jeannine is an LA based designer with a love for mid-century boho interiors. Her style focuses on designing timeless and comfortable spaces alongside a versatile aesthetic that is clean, earthy, and relaxed.

Design Brief

My new home dates back to 1926 – It’s Spanish in style, feels traditional yet sophisticated, and also embodies a sense of warmth. Personally, I love the idea of a modern farmhouse or the bohemian vibe and wanted to incorporate these themes into my living room but also retain a splash of the Spanish charm. I wanted my living room to be a comfort zone where the family can spend most of their time: watching TV or relaxing by the fireplace. I wanted a space that is child-proof and pet-friendly.

Watching Design Experts at Work

Though traditional designers can make one’s home look like a page from a magazine, the connection I experienced with my online interior designer, Jeannine, was exceptional. She knew exactly what I wanted in order to make my home a comfortable and safe retreat for my 5-month-old and my small pet. Since I love spending most of my time warming up and relaxing by the fireplace, I expressed my seating option requirement. Jeannine gave me a couple of possibilities, and I was more than impressed. As a family, we also love spending our time in the living room and hence, we wanted comfy chairs and sofas that invite you to sit down and have a conversation. Jeannine understood me well and that reflected in her designs. Today, our living space exudes joy and comfort, and we are making memories here that will last a lifetime.

Designer Notes:

Hi Lindsay, to revise the design, I have given you a leather sofa for more comfort and a more effortless ability to keep clean. For the fireplace's seating area, I went for a gray couch as you requested with a swivel chair for easy mobility while seated. Poufs are placed on both sides for maximum seating options and comfort.

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D

I love Spacejoy’s concept of putting things together in 3D. I am a visual person, and when I look at things presented to me visually, there is no turning back, and that’s precisely what happened when I saw my living room come to life. I appreciate the online service Spacejoy offers and how they can transform everything into 3D. I was so excited to see my living room at 360 degrees with products that would go into it, making it a perfect space for my family. My overall experience with Spacejoy has been wonderful. I just kept thinking, if it looks this good in 3D, it’s going to look even better in real life. Simply wonderful!

The 3D images were life-like, highlighting my 100-year old California Spanish-style living room. I never thought for a second that this rendering would give me exactly what I wanted to see in my space. But I was pleasantly surprised! Jeannine’s talent and the team’s ideas are mind-blowing. Joyous Homes, Happy Customer

We used Spacejoy to help us furnish our new home. We wanted the decor to highlight the historic Spanish-style architecture of our 100-year-old California house. Our living room is large and has a unique layout, so it was difficult for me to envision what would look good. And as a working mom, I didn’t have time to scour the internet for the right decor. Our designer delivered exactly what I asked for. Not only were all the items within our budget, but she chose unique pieces that complimented the historic charm of our house and created the warm and inviting ambiance I was aiming for. I would definitely recommend Spacejoy to anyone who wants professional design services but doesn’t want to commit to high-end furniture.
