It’s been a while since I’ve redecorated, and it was time to upgrade my living room. I was looking for a complete makeover, one that would give my living room a fresh new look. Modern meets country is a design combination I like, so my living room had to showcase the perfect mix of Mid-Century Modern and French Country design themes.

Design Brief

We are a family of two adults and two kids, so the living room has to be kid-friendly. My objective was clear - It has to be designed for style and comfort. I was curious to see how the designer would guide me into creating the living room that I've always wanted. Mid-Century Modern and French Country are two design concepts that inspired me and I was looking forward to having that reflected in the living room design. The 50s and 60s inspired furniture of the former and the Parisian meets Joanna Gaines of the latter, was ideal. Color choices - Earth Tones! I love Neutrals. It's a palette that inspires peace and serenity. Pops of color were welcome, but my only request was to keep 'Green' out of it. The decor plan was also left open, and I was ok with any suggestions coming my way. As long as what was selected stayed true to the overall theme, I was ok with it.

Watching Design Experts at Work

Lauren was great, and to see my living room come to life was the best thing. Tastefully done, the room looked grand! The choice of furniture was excellent. The Ektorp Sofa from Ikea, Caden Coffee Table & End Table from Living Spaces, and the TV Stand and the Swoop Armchair from Wayfair gave a new spin to the space. There was plenty of natural light filtering in, and that put a smile on my face. The room looked sunny and warm and very inviting. I loved that Lauren made an effort to incorporate my ideas in a way that would look amazing with the decor. Even the accessories she picked were great. The Sterling Table Lamp from Urban Outfitters, The Loomed Navy/Ivory Area Rug from All Modern, and the Bridgers Floor Lamp from Wayfair were lovely additions - they all added pops of color without making the room too loud or overbearing. Subtle brass accents and marble features were also included in the design scheme. It was also great to see my inspirations from Pinterest taken into account. By the end of it, it looked like my living room had been ‘pampered’...like it had gone through the best makeover session ever!

Designer Notes

Hi Antonella. It was a pleasure creating the design for your living room. We kept it classy and elegant with design inputs leading to two things - style and comfort, as you had requested. The decor, the furniture, and the accessories were all chosen, keeping in mind Mid-Century modern and French Country. We added the Swoop Armchair from Wayfair as requested and ensured that the color palette remained neutral with Earth Tones shining through. Accessories were given a lot of importance through which pops of color were introduced to the design. I hope you enjoy your Mid-Century Modern & French Country living room as much as I did while designing it.

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D

The app experience was great. I would recommend this to my friends and family, for sure. It’s so easy to navigate and to use, and it makes the design process simpler for amateurs like us. The app allows you to be involved but, at the same time, does not hamper the creative inputs that are required to take whatever room you’re designing from ordinary to extraordinary.

Photorealistic images or 3D renders of Antonella’s Living Room

Lauren gave me two design options for the room, and the 3D visuals allowed me to get into the details of the living room. This was a unique experience as I had never seen my design come to life even before it was actually executed on the floor. There were a few minor changes and inputs which were included with ease.

Joyous Homes, Happy Customer

It has been great. I am glad that I got Spacejoy on board to design my living room. Everything turned out just as I had planned, and working with Lauren was an added pleasure. The process was so stress-free, and the fact that I could be as involved as I wanted gave me the confidence that I needed for this project. I love my new, upgraded living room, and I can’t wait to spend time there with everyone.
