I work from home, and my husband is a teacher. We have two kids and one pet. Our space is an open concept of a living and dining room. I wanted the look to be minimalistic, modern with subtle elements of the traditional style. My aim was to create a space that felt inviting and beautiful, but most importantly, I wanted it to have an aura of comfort.

Maria Castillero

Originally from Mexico, Maria’s goal is to transform spaces into beautiful rooms where people feel joy. Her design aesthetic is clean lines, neutral tones, pops of color and lots of plants. She has a deep appreciation for modern eclectic and mid-century minimalist designs.

Design Brief

This is where the family spends most of their time: watching TV or relaxing, so I wanted this space to be warm, inviting and comfortable. I also wanted the room to look minimalistic yet beautiful with modern décor pieces and color palette that would perfectly blend in with the tone of the kitchen island.

Watching Design Experts at Work

Maria came in and let’s just say she ruled like a queen! From the tiniest décor items to the perfect furniture pieces, she knew exactly what would work in the space we had. She took my expectations of what I wanted in this space and turned it into a reality. Watching her bring our living room to life has been truly inspiring. She went for décor pieces that would have never gone for myself. But that’s exactly what’s making our living room so very special right now. Her decor style incorporates clean lines, sleek design and minimalist furniture – everything that I wanted to have in my space!

Designer Notes

Hi Susan, we have removed the desk from this room, and we’ve swapped it for a bookshelf and an additional chair. We hope you enjoy your design!

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D

When I saw my living room come to life in 3D, I was amazed at this technology. I am glad that I signed up with Spacejoy as I got a chance to see what my space could look like, even before Maria beautifully put things together for me. I must mention that the app is super-friendly, making the entire designing process easier and quicker.

Photorealistic images or 3D renders of Susan's living room

For me, the 3D render was the most thrilling part of this journey with Maria. I was ecstatic when I got to see my living room in life-like 3D, and maybe a tad bit emotional too, especially on seeing how gorgeous the room looked. To be honest, if you were to take a photo of my living room today and compare it with the 3D render, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference; that’s how real it looked. With the 3D render looking the way it did, I counted the days till I could spend most of my day relaxing in my living room with family and friends.

Joyous Homes, Happy Customer

When I moved into our new house last year, I wanted to start from scratch. I know what I like when I see it, but I needed help with the furniture selection, placement, and just tying it all together. I researched some virtual designing websites and found Spacejoy. Starting my decorating journey with them was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had so much fun sending them my photos, ideas, and measurements. When I received my design back from Spacejoy via email, I was completely thrilled at how beautiful everything looked. I would definitely use Spacejoy’s designing services again!
