The surface material is very wiry and scratchy, even through clothing! Will return as it's just too uncomfortable to the touch.

This ottoman is essentially a large beanbag. The color tone isn’t as monochrome as the image, it’s a mix of light cream with a dark earthy warm grey (threads have a tan/brown tone to it). Interested in seeing how it holds up over time.
