It looks great. The base is heavy. The way it threads together hides the threadsseams. The wiring is a heavy, flat, braided brown The switch is on the top of the shade, which is probably the most convenient location it could be. Would buy again

I wanted to add an "industrial" or early 1900's look to my den. This is a good fit. A bit pricey, but when you see the quality and detail, you can see where the cost comes from.

These industrial style lamps update the looks of my beach rental while providing better reading light to the room.

The lamp arrived well-packaged--and I love the look. Unfortunately, it's missing the shade! When I get the shade, and the little part that holds the shade in place, I will happily bump up my review to 5 stars.

This is a very unusual office lamp. It has a steampunk feel. As you can see it is quite tall. I had the original impression that the lamp height could be adjusted by swinging the gears, but this is not the case. The gears are held in place by the ( very sturdy) electrical cord that runs through them. You need to set and lock one knob with a pin to fix the lamp height. It is adjustable, but laborious to do so - and don’t lose the pin or you can’t adjust it at all!

Excellent addition and such a conversation piece. It’s the first thing people notice when they walk into my family room!

Very authentic looking and works well

My husband loves it in his office. I wanted to keep the Victorian style of our house going and this was perfect. Not hard to put together and like the adjustable feature.

Looks great in my remodeled basement. The pulley system reminds me of a large lamp my grandfather made in the 1930’s. It hung from the ceiling in the cabins living room. The lamps were filled with fuel. As the fuel burned off, the lamps would go higher in the air. So someone would grab the pulley system and bring the lamps back down to over the table. Of course the lamp I bought wasn’t as big as my grandfathers, but when I look at he pulley system, it makes me very happy.

As an antique watch and clockmaker this is not only a quality, remarkably stunning floor lamp but it also boasts of times past Industrial Age greatness!

Bought this lamp for an outrageous price and the knobswitch wore out within a few weeks. The problem is that this is not frequently used. Very cheap. Save your money.
