A Brown Pelican plunge-diving for her dinner.
During a plunge dive, a pelican flies over a body of water, typically at a height of around 50 feet or more. Once the bird spots a school of fish, it tucks its wings in and dives headfirst into the water at high speed, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.
