I’m a single professional mom and I’m excited to design our family room, which is the heart of our home. I have a 10-year-old daughter who balances her time between a private school and studying from home. She’s also on a gymnastics team, so our space needs to accommodate both our busy lifestyles. We share our home with an older yellow lab and a Maine Coon cat, so it’s important to create a space that’s not only stylish but also pet-friendly. I’m a Senior Director at a government consulting firm, which means I work long hours from my home office. I value organization and love keeping things neat—though my daughter might not always agree!

Lauren, our resident designer, resides in Los Angeles, California. She has a keen eye for detail and loves to design functional spaces high on style. She loves a good hack and has a ton of design tips and DIY ideas always ready to offer as solutions

Design Brief

I want this family room to reflect both our personalities. I love surrounding myself with things that inspire me, like photos of my daughter and plants. This room should be a cozy and inviting space where we can relax, spend quality time together, and feel at home. I’m looking forward to creating a design that balances functionality with the warmth and love we share!

Watching Design Experts at Work

We recently had the pleasure of working with Spacejoy and our talented designer, Lauren, and it was an incredible experience! My daughter and I were eager to redesign our living room but felt overwhelmed and unsure of where to begin. After answering a few questions about our preferences, Lauren quickly presented us with several design options that perfectly captured our vision. We ended up blending elements from each design, and the result exceeded our expectations! The process was seamless and just what we needed to kickstart our project. So impressed with the outcome, we enlisted Lauren to redesign our media room as well, and we loved that transformation just as much! The expertise and creativity of the Spacejoy team truly made our design dreams a reality, and we couldn't be happier with our beautiful new spaces!

Designer Notes:

Hi Ann, For your second design, I've painted the walls, Collingwood, by Benjamin Moore, also a warm taupe, which is just the slightest bit darker than the ;Athena' in the first design. I've simply shown you options for all of the main pieces, and have the tv mounted on the wall for option, with a new media console. I've also created more intimate, tete-a-tete conversation seating by the window with two ivory arm chairs that is a lovely first impression when entering the room. Your designer, Lauren :)

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D

Making adjustments was incredibly simple. If I wanted to change the color of a wall or swap out a piece of furniture, I could do it in real time and see how it looked instantly. Plus, I could easily share my designs with my daughter for her input, making it a fun collaborative experience. Once we finalized our design, purchasing the items directly through the app was so simple.The entire process made turning our vision into reality not only achievable but also enjoyable.

Photorealistic images or 3D renders

The renders made it crystal clear how our space would look once the design was complete. I could see how different elements would come together, making it easy to imagine cozy family nights or gatherings with friends. It was like having a sneak peek into our future home! Being able to make adjustments in real time only added to the excitement. If I wanted to swap out a chair or change the wall color, I could see those changes immediately, which helped me feel confident in my choices.

Loved our experience with Spacejoy and our designer, Lauren! My daughter and I wanted to redesign our living room but didn’t know where to start.
