Grace Ellenberg
My husband and I are creating a cozy, welcoming living and dining space that feels like home. We’re shifting from a grey-and-blue color palette to a more neutral, earthy vibe with tans, sage greens, and other calming tones. As a photographer, I value an aesthetically pleasing environment—it’s not just our home but also a backdrop for the self-portraits I often take here. This space needs to be both functional for everyday life with just the two of us and our two pups and accommodating for guests.

She’s great at understanding what her clients want and creating designs that fit their needs and personalities. Whether it’s a modern look, a cozy feel, or something in between, Kate knows how to make a space both beautiful and practical.
Design Brief
We want a comfortable and welcoming living and dining space with an earthy neutral palette, focusing on tans, sage greens, and natural tones. The design must be durable and pet-friendly since we have two large dogs—a golden retriever who loves the couch and a Newfoundland who prefers cool floors. We are designing a living and dining space that reflects our love for comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
Watching Design Experts at Work
I had no idea where to start with our oddly shaped living and dining area, but watching my Spacejoy designer, Kate, work her magic was incredible. She carefully listened to my needs and made thoughtful choices, from incorporating our guitars for display to helping me visualize the couch I’m planning to buy. Her expertise turned what felt like an overwhelming task into an exciting process, and I truly felt supported every step of the way.
Designer Notes
Hi Grace - here is your revised design I added back in the items you mentioned. I think you meant the "natural" curtains that have a green undertone - the ones in revision 1 were more of a cream color. I selected a more neutral rug for the dining area and added in the missing view. Let me know if I missed anything! Thanks, Kate
Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D
Being able to see the designs in 3D allowed me to really experience the space before making any decisions. It was so much easier to visualize how the furniture and decor would fit and feel in our home, making the process less intimidating and more fun.
Photorealistic images or 3D renders
3D renders from Spacejoy were stunning. Seeing such lifelike visuals of the space gave me so much confidence in the design choices. It felt like I was stepping right into my future living and dining area, and it solidified my excitement about the final plan. My vision truly came to life, and I couldn’t be happier with the result

Joyous Homes, Happy Customer
My vision came to life! Our living and dining area is weird. We just moved in and I’ve been dreading trying to decide how to set it up. Then I found space joy. My designer, Kate, has been so helpful in the process from working in our guitars we wanted to display to the couch I’m hoping to buy, and more. I feel like my vision truly got brought to life!! I’ve already recommended space joy to a handful of friends and family. 🙌🏼 So worth the investment.
