A unicorn wonderland for a 7-year-old girl

I was looking to design my daughter's room in a way that she would enjoy spending her time in. It was barely furnished but not with her favorite elements. She loves unicorns and soccer, so it wasn't hard picking a theme.

Lauren, our resident designer, resides in Los Angeles, California. She has a keen eye for detail and loves to design functional spaces high on style. She loves a good hack and has a ton of design tips and DIY ideas always ready to offer as solutions.

My daughter loves horses, unicorns, bright pops of color, especially powder pink and fluffy pillows. To start with, we had to change the old bed frame and add cheerful decor.

Step 2

Watching Design Experts at Work

Lauren drew up the layout of the room and curated products. My daughter loved Eloise, the stuffed elephant from Anthropologie. Lush velvet pillows from West Elm, and the reversible quilt set from All Modern were such luxe selections within our budget. I was excited to see how this would all come together.

Designer Notes

We had so much fun designing your daughter’s bedroom! In concept one, we incorporated pastel tones to create a beautiful and feminine design. In concept two, you’ll see that we created a more playful design, with jewel tones and bright multi-colors. In both concepts, we incorporated extra storage space for toys.

Step 3

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience my Designs in 3D

I received two concepts of the room, one in shades of pink and the other in shades of teal. My daughter and I went through each decor element in the two designs carefully, and she selected most of them for us to finalize. The 3D App’s interactiveness is additionally helpful when kids are involved in the decision making.

We left feedback with the changes we wanted to see, and Lauren updated the design promptly. It was all relatively easy, and we closed the selection process quickly.
