I was very excited to receive this lamp, out the box I wasn’t a fan of the coating on the lamp frame, it feels like the rubber on 5lb weights. Secondly, the directions were pretty lame. It is lettered A-Z but none of the parts are actually labeled, so what good is that? I’m obviously female who isn’t accustomed to putting stuff together so guessing which parts to pull and screw was not my best moment. The base was heavy with a beautiful gloss finish! It was packaged with care and shipped very quick Put together I am pleased with the overall look.

I would love to leave a happy review for this lamp but unfortunately I was shipped everything except for the hardware to put it together. So for now, all I have to show for it are a pile of pieces on my living room floor. I’ve received an estimate of up to April 7th for that hardware to arrive, which seems ridiculous given that I received the lamp on March 8th. But the fact the hardware was missing at all was a pretty huge oversight and it’s disappointing Article doesn’t have a faster way to drop a bag of screws and washers into the mail ASAP.

Great design but the construction is subpar. The metal used is pretty cheap and the parts are not machined well (holes don't line up, for instance). The black powder coating on one of the metal segments rubbed off (during shipment perhaps). The shade is fine but it would have been nice to include an opaque bottom so the lightbulbs are not exposed (annoyingly).

*****Update***** After leaving my original review, customer service reached out on email. And honestly it’s the best customer service I’ve had to date. Very knowledgeable and helpful, offered a host of options that go above and beyond the normal company. Ended on keeping the lamp with a partial refund for the damages. Honestly, very impressed with the customer service team, and while the product I received was not perfect, I would buy again form article *JUST* for the customer service I received today. —————————————- ****original review******* Was really excited to receive this lamp due to the unique design. And once set up (when not touched) it does look nice especially from a distance. But that’s where the issues come into play; The shade is a very cheap almost velvety type of material which is fine but certainly not nice by any means. The metal arm is what appears to be a powder coated metal that is already beginning to chip upon set up. The base is a black marble (?) that came damaged right outside of the box in several places. Doesn’t appear to be packaged well enough to handle standard delivery. Additionally, when moved even slightly, the entire lamp wobbles for a solid 2-3 minutes afterwards, which is strange since the base is quite heavy and can more than hold the weight of the lamp, so I’m assuming the metal arm isn’t very sturdy (even after fully tightening connections). Overall, the design of the lamp is nice, but the quality is more of something you’d pick up from homegoods in the $100 scratch and dent clearance section. Definitely not something that is worth $300 (after tax and shipping). P.S. be careful with your flooring. The marble base is so heavy that it’s already dented mine

When it says in step 1 to carefully pull on the cord, what it actually means is to pull with all your strength. By pulling hard and rotating the ball and socket was able to pull the cord through a millimeter at a time (and yes, I had it all on the ground). Not sure if that is a design issue or a quality issue. Besides that need a second (or third) person to help hold it on its side while I try to tighten the bottom bolt so it stops swaying at the slightest touch. Need to figure out what the notch in the lamp shade connection is called because it needs a new shade.

This is a terrific piece, well constructed and easy to assemble. I love the matte, textured finish and the ability to get light over the center of the couch. It gives my living room the look and feel of a loft space -- which it definitely isn't. ;)

Love this lamp! It is really a statement piece in our living room. The marble base is quite heavy, so it is hard to move around the room to position it, but that is the only slightly negative.

Overall, I like it. The round plastic on the bottom of the light didn't fit snuggly so its imperfect, but it looks great otherwise.

I found them lying in the bottom of the box; I thought weird. then started to realizing why that was when trying to set up the lamp :(

The look of this lamp is nice - height is great, but the quality is pretty terrible. The metal that they use is really poor quality, even down to the screws, which strip easily (had to get a new one sent). I honestly would not recommend this lamp due to the quality - it feels very flimsy. Customer service was great though.

Set-up was easy but two people is definitely recommended! Overall we're very happy with this lamp, great quality statement piece!

It’s one thing if the lamp were to show up broken, stuff happens; but this one broke, and was subsequently somewhat repaired before it was shipped. For $300 CAD this is unacceptable.
