We just moved into a new house, and the living room was the first design project that I wanted to take up. As a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 doggos), the room’s primary purpose was to be for relaxing and spending some quality time at home, along with using it as a space for entertaining guests. I wanted it to be both comfortable and stylish and the design theme - coastal with beachy vibes and a touch of Boho!

Watching Design Experts at Work

Watching and working with Laura designing our living room was an experience in itself. She was so methodical, and she made sure all our inputs were included. I really liked the L-shaped layout for our sofas but they are not super comfortable, I wanted her to change it up a bit. She brought in this gorgeous sectional from Overstock that's as stylish as it was comfortable. The entire color scheme of the room was easy breezy and beachy! Different shades of blues combined with neutrals and pops of color - just how I wanted it. The art that she incorporated on the walls was just amazing - abstract and mesmerizing. The white and black rug from Wayfair was quite a stunner - it's almost like the statement piece of the room (though I feel, there's definitely more than one statement piece in there!). The layout avoids clutter and that makes it great for the dogs, there’s plenty of room to move around. The Armchair from Wayfair and the pouf from CB2 add a very warm and cozy vibe to the area as well. There's lots of space to relax and sit around, making it perfect for us when we're just chilling at home and also for when there are people over.

Designer Notes

Hi Bri! Thank you for your patience during this process! For your living space, I wanted to create a light, and bright boho vibe with fun pops of blue throughout. You had mentioned that you liked the L-shape layout of your sofas but that they lacked comfort, so I wanted to go with a large sectional in this design--perfect for spreading out and lounging! I added a few leather elements throughout the space to complete the boho look, including a beautiful leather chair placed by the fireplace and a leather pouf to complement the sofa. The geometric shag rug ties the space together while making the living room look larger.

Using the Spacejoy App to Experience Designs in 3D

I never knew that we could actually experience a living room, or any room for that matter, like I did with the Spacejoy app. Visualizing the designs for my living room in 3D on the app was very exciting and helpful as well- we could give it that ‘test run’ which otherwise becomes difficult...and it’s very user-friendly as well! The designs in 3D were very realistic, and it gave us a good idea of what the living room would look like with all the furniture and decor in place. One of the main advantages here is that it lets you play around with your space and allows you to keep reinventing till you’re happy with it!

Photorealistic images or 3D renders of Zoe’s Living Room

Once we were done conceptualizing, Laura showed us the 3D renders of our living room. The renders gave us a more accurate idea of the exact layout, along with the design and decor elements that our living room would have. We realized that it was pretty near perfect and that it just needed some tweaks here and there to get done. Laura was a star throughout, and communicating with her was so easy. She really went out of her way to ensure that the living room looked and felt like how we wanted it to, even taking into account all our design inspirations from Pinterest and other sources online. I had designed a few rooms in the past with help from social media and such, but this experience was infinitely better. Under Laura’s guidance and Spacejoy’s user-friendly app, we were well on our way to designing the living room of our dreams for the new house.

Joyous Homes, Happy Customer

It’s lovely to have a well-decorated, functional, stylish, and a comfortable living room that we can call our own in the new house - and Spacejoy made that possible. It has been designed just right for a common, central area for family and friends. The vintage textures, the soothing colors, and the casual vibe of the living room draws us to it. The design experience itself was unique and memorable, the entire process was seamless, and it gave us the freedom to work with the space just how we wanted to. The living room plays a significant role, especially since we’re a fairly large family. The openness of it all only adds to the warmth. I am thrilled that I decided to go ahead with Spacejoy for this design project, and I can't wait to get started on a few more.
